1st concert
Johannes Fend (solo)

Austrian bassist and composer Johannes Fend takes you on a unique musical journey with his solo album Journey.

Based in Rotterdam, Fend combines jazz, classical music and improvisation to create his own distinctive sound world. On double bass and bass guitar, he explores the many colours and possibilities of a single instrument. Journey is structured as a musical journey, from departure and adventure to return.

Johannes studied jazz and classical double bass in the Netherlands and has collaborated with musicians from both the Netherlands and abroad. With his solo project, he won second prize at the Il Sole In Cantina Award and was named Best Soloist at the Erasmus Jazz Award.

Expect an intimate, adventurous and surprising concert centred around the double bass, a musical journey that is best experienced live.

2nd concert

With Perseverancia, BEATRIZ presents an album deeply rooted in Cuba’s rich musical heritage, while constantly moving forward.

Pianist and bandleader Laura Beatriz Argudin Tella, born in Havana, grew up in a musical family. Her father was Latin jazz legend Rodolfo Argudin “Peruchín”, and her great-grandfather was the iconic pianist Pedro Justiz “Peruchín”.

The six musicians of Beatriz put their own spin on Cuban rhythms, ranging from son montuno to Latin jazz. Their music is warm, rhythmic and energetic, with plenty of room for improvisation and interplay. From their base in Rotterdam, the band brings the atmosphere of Havana to the stage, with Perseverancia marking a new chapter in their musical career.

Elke avond staat een gevestigde naam naast een veelbelovende opkomende act: twee artiesten, twee verschillende stijlen en ieder hun eigen muzikale verhaal. Ontdek vier avonden vol bijzondere muziek en maak kennis met zowel vertrouwde namen als nieuwe talenten!

1e concert
Johannes Fend (solo)

De Oostenrijkse bassist en componist Johannes Fend neemt je mee op een bijzondere muzikale reis met zijn soloalbum Journey.

Fend, gevestigd in Rotterdam, combineert jazz, klassieke muziek en improvisatie tot een heel eigen klankwereld. Op contrabas en basgitaar laat hij horen hoeveel kleuren en mogelijkheden er in één instrument schuilgaan. Journey is opgebouwd als een muzikale reis: van vertrek en avontuur tot terugkeer.

Johannes studeerde jazz en klassieke contrabas in Nederland en werkte samen met musici uit binnen- en buitenland. Met zijn soloproject won hij onder meer de tweede prijs bij de Il Sole In Cantina Award en werd hij bekroond als beste solist bij de Erasmus Jazz Award.

Verwacht een intiem, avontuurlijk en verrassend concert waarin de contrabas centraal staat. Een muzikale reis die je vooral moet ervaren.

2e concert

Met Perseverancia presenteert BEATRIZ een album waarin de muzikale erfenis van Cuba volop klinkt, maar nooit stilstaat. Pianist en bandleider Laura Beatriz Argudin Tella, geboren in Havana, groeide op in een muzikale familie. Haar vader was latin-jazzlegende Rodolfo Argudin ‘Peruchín’ en haar overgrootvader de iconische pianist Pedro Justiz ‘Peruchín’.

De zes muzikanten van Beatriz geven hun eigen draai aan Cubaanse ritmes, van son montuno tot latin jazz. De muziek is warm, ritmisch en energiek, met ruimte voor improvisatie en samenspel. Vanuit Rotterdam brengt de band de sfeer van Havana naar het podium, met Perseverancia als nieuw hoofdstuk in hun muzikale verhaal.
