Vanaf september 2026 strijkt de Gitaarsalon neer in het Batavierhuis met een maandelijkse concertserie, helemaal in het teken van de gitaar. Al meer dan 25 jaar is de Gitaarsalon een Nederlands begrip, met een gigantisch Gitaarfestival in het Zuiderzeemuseum en twee concertseries in Enkhuizen.

Er is elke laatste zondag van de maand (wijzigingen voorbehouden) in de middag een prachtig gitaarconcert te bewonderen in het Batavierhuis. Nieuwsgierig naar wat de gitaar allemaal te bieden heeft, en wie de nieuwe beloftes zijn in de gitaarwereld van Nederland? Kom dan eens luisteren en kijken.

Dat Dylan Edwards naar Nederland moest verhuizen om bluegrass te ontdekken, had hij zelf waarschijnlijk ook niet zien aankomen. Sinds 2020 stort hij zich volledig op de muziek, de tradities en de verschillende instrumenten van het genre. Hij richtte de Ain’t No Mountain Boys op en tourde met de band door Nederland, Frankrijk en Zweden.

Na het vertrek van de Nederlandse bluegrass-icoon Tijmen Veelenturf naar Nashville groeide Dylan uit tot een van de meest gevraagde bluegrassfiddlers van Nederland. Hij is onder meer te horen bij The New West en The Lonesome Malones.

Ook Steven Verrips is de afgelopen jaren volledig gegrepen door het bluegrassvirus. Geïnspireerd door gitaristen als Tony Rice, Doc Watson en Billy Strings verdiept hij zich intensief in flatpicking, crosspicking en de ritmische taal van de bluegrassgitaar. Sinds 2025 speelt hij gitaar bij The Lonesome Malones, waarmee hij op festivals en podia in Nederland, België, Duitsland, Tsjechië en Zwitserland te zien- en horen is.

Vanuit de muzikale chemie die ontstond bij The Lonesome Malones zoeken Dylan en Steven in hun duo bewust de intimiteit van twee stemmen en twee instrumenten op. Geïnspireerd door legendarische duo’s als Tony Rice & Norman Blake, Doc Watson & Jack Lawrence en Tim O’Brien & Darrell Scott brengen ze een afwisselend programma vol bluegrass, folk, fiddle tunes en instrumentale klassiekers. Centraal staan samenspel, spontaniteit en de rijke traditie van de akoestische muziek.

Starting in September 2026, the Gitaarsalon will be coming to the Batavierhuis with a monthly concert series dedicated entirely to the guitar. For more than 25 years, the Gitaarsalon has been a household name in the Netherlands, featuring a massive Guitar Festival at the Zuiderzee Museum and two concert series in Enkhuizen.

Dylan Edwards probably didn’t see it coming himself—that he would have to move to the Netherlands to discover bluegrass. Since 2020, he has devoted himself entirely to the music, traditions, and various instruments of the genre. He founded the Ain’t No Mountain Boys and toured with the band throughout the Netherlands, France, and Sweden.

After Dutch bluegrass icon Tijmen Veelenturf left for Nashville, Dylan emerged as one of the most sought-after bluegrass fiddlers in the Netherlands. He performs with groups such as The New West and The Lonesome Malones.

Steven Verrips, too, has been completely captivated by the bluegrass bug in recent years. Inspired by guitarists such as Tony Rice, Doc Watson, and Billy Strings, he has immersed himself intensively in flatpicking, crosspicking, and the rhythmic language of the bluegrass guitar. Since 2025, he has played guitar with The Lonesome Malones, performing at festivals and venues in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, the Czech Republic, and Switzerland.

Building on the musical chemistry that developed with The Lonesome Malones, Dylan and Steven consciously seek out the intimacy of two voices and two instruments in their duo. Inspired by legendary duos such as Tony Rice & Norman Blake, Doc Watson & Jack Lawrence, and Tim O’Brien & Darrell Scott, they present a varied program filled with bluegrass, folk, fiddle tunes, and instrumental classics. At the heart of their performance are ensemble playing, spontaneity, and the rich tradition of acoustic music.
