Starting in September 2026, the Gitaarsalon will be coming to the Batavierhuis with a monthly concert series dedicated entirely to the guitar. For more than 25 years, the Gitaarsalon has been a household name in the Netherlands, featuring a massive Guitar Festival at the Zuiderzee Museum and two concert series in Enkhuizen.

Every last Sunday of the month (subject to change), you can enjoy a wonderful guitar concert in the afternoon at the Batavierhuis. Curious about what the guitar has to offer and who the up-and-coming talents are in the Dutch guitar scene? Then come by to listen and watch.  

Widely regarded as one of the most exciting and talented guitarists in Europe, Matthew has been delighting audiences worldwide with his insightful performances and effortless presentation in a concert career spanning well over a decade.

Matthew has performed at major venues across the world such as The Concertgebouw Amsterdam, The Purcell Room & St Martin in the Fields, London, Teatro Britanico, Lima, The Sage, Gateshead, Cenart, Mexico City, Caesars Palace, Las Vegas, Eugene O’Neil Theater, San Jose and Dom Armije, Sarajevo to name a few. Matthew has toured extensively throughout North & South America, Canada, Europe and Asia both as a soloist and chamber musician, and has also produced an extensive discography with Baros Records.

Matthew recently embarked upon a duo project with Guitarist & Composer Matthew Cochran. The pair have quickly established themselves as a major new voice in the guitar world through a combination of unique programming and warm, easygoing onstage rapport.

As an educator Matthew holds the posts of Classical Guitar Lecturer at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and is the Director of the Classical Guitar Retreat.

Vanaf september 2026 strijkt de Gitaarsalon neer in het Batavierhuis met een maandelijkse concertserie, helemaal in het teken van de gitaar. Al meer dan 25 jaar is de Gitaarsalon een Nederlands begrip, met een gigantisch Gitaarfestival in het Zuiderzeemuseum en twee concertseries in Enkhuizen.

Er is elke laatste zondag van de maand (wijzigingen voorbehouden) in de middag een prachtig gitaarconcert te bewonderen in het Batavierhuis. Nieuwsgierig naar wat de gitaar allemaal te bieden heeft, en wie de nieuwe beloftes zijn in de gitaarwereld van Nederland? Kom dan eens luisteren en kijken. 

Matthew wordt alom beschouwd als een van de meest boeiende en getalenteerde gitaristen van Europa en weet al ruim tien jaar lang het publiek wereldwijd te betoveren met zijn doordachte uitvoeringen en zijn natuurlijke podiumpresentatie.

Matthew heeft opgetreden in grote zalen over de hele wereld, zoals het Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, de Purcell Room en St Martin in the Fields in Londen, het Teatro Británico in Lima, The Sage in Gateshead, Cenart in Mexico-Stad, Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, het Eugene O’Neil Theater in San José en Dom Armije in Sarajevo, om er maar een paar te noemen. Matthew heeft uitgebreide tournees gemaakt door Noord- en Zuid-Amerika, Canada, Europa en Azië, zowel als solist als kamermusicus, en heeft bovendien een uitgebreide discografie opgebouwd bij Baros Records.

Onlangs is Matthew een duoproject gestart met gitarist en componist Matthew Cochran. Het duo heeft zich al snel gevestigd als een belangrijke nieuwe stem in de gitaarwereld door een combinatie van unieke programmering en een warme, ontspannen chemie op het podium.

Als docent bekleedt Matthew de functie van docent klassieke gitaar aan het Royal Conservatoire of Scotland en is hij directeur van de Classical Guitar Retreat.
